About the Item
A very fine modernist brooch by Ronald Hayes Pearson.
Comprised of 14-karat forged yellow gold and fashioned in the shape of 2 of Pearson's conjoined swooshes or checks.
One half has a brushed finish and the other has a high polish.
The brooch is secured with a pin back.
Ronald Pearson is an extremely important figure in the 20th Century American Craft movement. Together with John Prip and others, Ronald Pearson opened the highly acclaimed Shop One in Rochester, New York. He was, together with Stanley Lechtzin, Robert Ebendorf, and Olaf Skoogfors, a founding member of the Society of North American Goldsmiths (SNAG).
Works by Pearson are held in important museums including the Smithsonian American Art Museum, MoMA in New York, Victoria and Albert Museum in London, and others, as well as in numerous important private collections.
