Unusual 19th Century Brooch with Carved Citrine of Sailing Putti

About the Item

Charming sentimental brooch from the Victorian era. A large (20mm x 13mm) citrine is intricately carved with 2 putti alone in a small sailboat. The back of the stone is faceted to give it depth. The gold setting is cupids bow and arrow. Finely twisted wirework on the frame of the stone and bow string. Sentimental jewelry was extremely popular in the 19th Century as gifts to loved/lost ones. This is an especially unusual and charming example. 2.25" x 7/8" Wide, Excellent Condition.
