This gorgeous gilt brooch by Monet, circa 1970s, is a wonderful example of the quality and innovative designs that the coveted vintage costume jewelry brand is known for. With a satin gold-plated finish, this abstract brooch can be styled with almost anything! A wonderful addition to your vintage jewelry collection. ABOUT MONET: Monet was founded in 1919 by brothers Michael and Joseph Chernow as a monogramming business. The company did so well that in 1934 they hired a designer with a background from Cartier and entered the costume jewelry market. The designer, Edmond Mario Granville, would remain with the company until his death in 1969. Their popularity surged following WWII, as their high quality, clean and tailored designs appealed to the new female workforce. Monet designs are highly collectible to this day and have stood up amazingly to the test of time.
