Antique Edwardian Paste Chandelier Earrings

One look at these silver and paste chandelier earrings and your breath stops just long enough to recover and manage the words "how fantastic". Diamond color white pastes in various shapes and forms are testament to the hand work and gorgeous design of these earrings. The earrings were executed with the flair and skill and to the standards of Georgian and Victorian jewelers. There are three floral sections, each individually beautiful. The pastes are foiled and tightly set in closed back settings. There is no erosion of the foil below the stones.
Paste was an art form in the Georgian and Victorian eras. Fine Edwardian paste met the same standards as that of previous paste makers. Royalty had their own paste jewelers, all of who kept their formula secret. Napoleon gave a parrure of paste to Josephine. This art was an outgrowth of the veneration of glass in ancient times. It is more durable and harder than glass. The stones are cut using the technique of diamond gems. These are a flight of fancy measuring a dramatic 3 inches in length. Superb condition
