Antique Iberian (Catalan) Rose Cut Diamond Herring/ Chandelier Earrings. Ca. 1830 Wonderful large early 19th Century diamond earrings. In silver & gold with rose cut diamonds. Each composed of three linked sections in closed-back settings. The foil backing of the diamonds are bright and lively in all settings, proper from the Georgian Period. They are ornated with 74 rose cut and table cut diamonds (37 per earring). total weight of diamonds approximately 4.25 carats), measuring approximately length7cm x width 2cm, WEIGHT : 33.38 grams. Earring posts later added in 18 Karat gold. (Catalan closure). This unusual design Catalan probably is only found in north-east Spain, particularly Barcelona. * Earrings Late 18th Century to 1829 were worn very long, and were usually made of one, two or three flat elements, placed one above the others. * Herring earring (in Catalan, arracada d'arengada), also known as Jacsins or nanny earring (arracada de dida),[1] are the names given in jewellery to the traditional type of earring typical from Catalonia since the middle of the 18th century and with a prominent success during the 19th century.[
