This unusual pair of Georgian earrings of 18kt gold have French hallmarks. They are, as are most Georgian earrings, extremely light on the ear. Fleur de Lis ear wires hold two gold wafers pressed together. The photo shows their secret and their whimsy. Dead center is a statue of Napoleon himself, on a tablet, in his familiar tri corner hat. He is dressed in a coat, jacket, vest, tights, pants and boots. What a guy and what a posture. The gold work is done en repousse. All vines, flowers, shells and the man are pushed out of the gold from the back. These earrings are three dimensional. They are the same back and front. Any cautious man would not turn his back to a crowd.
The hand on Napoleon's chest holds a sword. His image is less identifiable on the ear where, when worn, appear as lovely gold earrings with a beautiful color and shape. Fine condition. Measurements 2 in. long, 3/4 in in width
