Presented is an amazing pair of 1980s large door knocker style earrings by French designer Dominique Aurientis. Beautifully constructed and richly plated in 18K gold. Each clip back earring measures approximately 2.38 inches wide and is 3 inches tall. Mounted on the face of the earrings are four ornaments including two abstract designs, a turtle and a bug. On the back under the top of the clip is the round signature plaque inscribe Dominique, Paris and Aurientis. Beautiful gold patina and very very fine condition. Dominique Aurientis is a French fashion designer who graduated from the Sorbonne. She started her career working at Dior and then moved on to fashion houses Chanel, Lanvin, Ferragamo, Celine, Givenchy and Emilio Pucci. In 1986 she went out on her own and opened her own her accessories and fashion brand Dominique Aurientis that gained immediate international attention and wide media coverage. Dominique Aurientis jewelry designs are unique, innovative and rooted with a classical sensibility often incorporating elements of nature.
