Antique 17th/18th Century Sequilé Diamond Demi-Parure Yellow Gold Portuguese
About the Item
Museum-quality antique late 17th/early 18th century diamond and yellow gold Baroque “sequilé” earrings and pendant/brooch demi-parure, Portuguese, with hallmarks from the period and in the original case. This Georgian sequilé jewel from the first half of the 1700s features intricate filigree, pierced, and die-pressed gold work. It is closed-back set throughout with table-cut and rose-cut diamonds, notable for their almost crude simplicity. The pieces are richly adorned with chiseled and scalloped decorations, including volutes, scrolls, and foliate motifs, further accented with pear-shaped pendant drops. The dangle or chandelier style drop earrings are secured to the reverse with the original lever-back fittings. The pendant/brooch is secured at the top with a pendant bail fitting and also includes a later-added hinged pin and roller clasp for use as a brooch.

his unusual and lovely victorian set of faceted rock crystals and carved smoky quartz was made in the second half of the 19th century.
Natural rock crystals are saluted for its way of bending the light into a “pool” of light around the wearer. They are absolutely magical and look fabulous when worn. Rock crystal is the clear transparent variety of quartz (silicon dioxide) and has a MOHS hardness rating of 7. This makes them harder than, say, opal but softer than emerald (7.5) and topaz (8). Featuring two genuine rock crystal briolettes. The beautiful briolettes are pear shaped and faceted. They sparkle beautifully. Truly special heirloom earrings...
