Janine Renard (attr.): A Pair of Postmodern Diamond Lapis Lazuli Citrine Gold Earrings 18K white & yellow gold, lapis lazuli, citrine, 12 diamonds (fancy yellow, vvs, total 0.12 carat) Length 8.2 cm (approx. 3 1/4"), width (top) 1.0 cm (approx. 3/8") Marks: none Belgium, 1980s - 1990s Janine Renard became known during the 1980s-1990s for her 'porte-parfums', pendants and necklaces in an architectural post-modern style, some resembling large insects, created to transport a small glass vial of perfume, usually carried out in a mixture of precious metals and stones, the glass vial conceptualized as part of the design. As is with many of her jewellery pieces, the earrings are not signed and made to be worn in two variations: the long dangling parts can be taken off to wear them just as button earrings set with citrine.
