Pair of Edwardian Amethyst and Pearl Drop Earrings
About the Item
A pair of Edwardian amethyst, pearl and diamond drop earrings, each earring with a pear-shaped amethyst estimated to weigh 8 carats for the pair, suspended by a run set with three small natural pearls alternating with three rose-cut diamonds, all mounted in platinum and gold, to gold hook fittings, circa 1910, measuring approximately 4.5 x 0.8cm, gross weight 4.2 grams.
This very pretty pair of antique earrings comes from the collection of Bentley & Skinner, the London jewellers by appointment to both Her Majesty the Queen and His Royal Highness the Prince of Wales. These earrings each feature a subtle drop of diamonds and natural pearls, the combination of which is typical of the Edwardian era. Each drop culminates in a bright and vivid pear-shaped amethyst with a striking hue. These lovely earrings would be the perfect finishing touch to a simple evening dress.
This antique pair of earrings is in fine condition for its age. Unmarked, tested as 14ct gold and platinum.
