Victorian Etruscan Wirework and Foxtail Fringe Earrings
About the Item
A fantastic pair of foxtail fringe earrings from the Victorian (ca1880) era! Crafted in 15kt yellow gold, these stunning earrings display a dramatic hanging design. Each side features an elaborate 3-dimensional teardrop shaped link that appears to "float" at the center of a similarly shaped link. Incredible Etruscan-style swirled wirework and various sized beaded accents embellish the entire link, adding a wonderful texture to the design. Swinging freely at the bottom from a V-shaped link is a foxtail fringe comprised of graduated rows of articulated spears. The earrings dangle from an ornately shaped surmount, attached to a simple wire at the top. Despite their substantial look and length, the hollow design is wonderfully lightweight for comfortable wear. These stunning earrings frame the face beautifully and dangle with lovely movement. A perfect example of Victorian era jewelry, they would make a special addition to any antique collection!
Each earring hangs approximately 3 1/8" long (including the wire at the top), measures about 5/8" wide, and is about 3/8" at the thick.
