About the Item
This is very rare pair of early Rose Cut Diamond Antique Georgian - Victorian Dangle Drop Day Night Earrings in 18 Karat Gold with Enamel adornment. These antique earrings are of the highest quality. They have extraordinary design with three articulated sections. The earrings are Day Night earrings meaning that the lower portion is made to be removable so that you may wear only the top portion if desired. The earrings are Spanish gold work from the early to mid 19th Century, circa 1800 - 1850. The exquisite gold work is characteristic of the superb Spanish jewelers of the 18th and 19th century who created very special jewels with eternal appeal. Finding early earrings with an abundance of rose cut diamonds is very rare. The additional black enamel detailing is exquisite.
The top portions are each set with a rose cut diamond of approximately 4mm in diameter in a raised collet with prong setting.
The center sections have a further rose cut diamond. The terminal sections have a quatrefoil design with a central diamond surrounded by four diamonds. Each section is articulated allowing the earrings to dangle beautifully from the ear. It is rare to find early antique earrings with Rose Cut Diamonds and we are always very excited when we do. The wonderful articulated design of these earrings with the open work and enamel adornment gives them a delightful airy effect while exhibiting very fine early Victorian style.
The earrings are 18 Karat Gold. They hang beautifully from the ear.
The earrings are 1 3/4 inches (45mm) long. The top portion when worn alone is 5/8 inch (15mm) long. The lower portions are 5/8 inch (15m) wide. The earrings are 7mm deep.
The earrings are hallmarked with Spanish hallmarks and the makers mark which may be JMP.
Together the earrings weigh 9.7 grams.
