A vintage pair of rubellite and diamond drop earrings, each earring set with an octagonal-cut rubellite, the one weighing 6.90 carats and the other 6.95 carats, each with three small old-cut diamonds set on the top, all suspended by a larger old-cut diamond, the diamonds estimated to weigh 0.80 carats in total for the pair, all mounted in white gold, with later post and alpha-type fittings, marked 750, circa 1950, measuring approximately 2.5 x 1cm, gross weight 7.6 grams. This vintage pair of earrings is in very good condition for its age, with later post fittings. Marked and tested as 18ct gold. A mesmerizing pair of drop earrings. The pink variety of elbaite tourmaline, rubellites are the rarest gemstone in the tourmaline family. Rubellites of such an intense pink to red colour such as those featured are particularly prized because of their rarity, making these earrings truly special. The glimmering diamonds set above the rubellites contrast wonderfully with their raspberry red colour, adding elegance and sparkle.
