About the Item

These handcrafted earrings are a beautiful combination of three-layered hand-hammered hoops accompanying organic volcanic textured silver MEDALLIONS. One of the core elements of my art and jewels is MEDALLION. Each MEDALLION is created through a process of slowly cranking up the heat of my torch, watching small pockets of silver bubbles, creating a unique texture for each MEDALLION. Each flick and different angle of my torch creates different ripples and spontaneous craters. After coming off the soldering station each MEDALLION is filed and sanded to create a beautiful smoothness on the edges that frame the tiny ripples and fused silver. Each a lil dance of magic and science with silver. These earrings do have some weight and are recommended for ears that are able to wear larger earrings with an extra silver. Sterling and Argentium silver measuring at approximately 3 and 1/2 inches. Post earring style. Jewelry is handcrafted so there are variants in each piece. Each pair is made with care in my Brooklyn jewelry studio. Please allow 1-2 weeks for creation in addition to shipping times. Robin Erfe's designs and creative process is founded on a love for creating beauty, protecting, and adorning the body in elegance while being influenced by the various twists, textures, and imagination of nature, NYC streets, and her Caribbean and Southeast Asian heritage. She began as a child building from cardboard, plastic from discarded envelopes, collecting rocks, being mesmerized by beads, to finally continuing her education at the bench jewelers program at Studio Jewelers, Inc in NYC. Here is where she found her love for melting and fabricating art and adornment in metal. Based in Brooklyn, Robin focuses on handcrafted techniques, creating one of a kind pieces and limited edition collections. Her work showcases hand fabricated chains, precious and exquisite stones from select stone cutters, and a love for hand hammered fringe and melted metal. Her studio companion is Coco, a sassy and divine creature, along with a strong brewed cup of cafe con leche, a rotating selection of salsa dura, dembow, soul, and rock n roll within walls covered covered with sketches being revised at any given moment with pen, paper, or becoming a new idea on her bench and soldering station. ----- This piece is part of the NYCJW HERE WE ARE Marketplace.
