About the Item
22 Karat Yellow Gold Rosette Post Earrings by Romae Jewelry Inspired by Ancient Designs. Our simple and elegant "Junia" earrings are based on one of the most popular ornamental motifs in ancient art - across cultures! The rosette is a round, stylized flower design, with flattened petals surrounding a central flower head. It was used as a decorative motif by the ancient cultures of Mesopotamia, Egypt, Crete and the Aegean in the Bronze Age, the later Greek world, Etruria and Rome. Indeed, there may be no more recognizable ancient decorative motif than the rosette! Our post earrings are based on ancient Greek bead ornaments dating to the fourth or third century BC.
Each piece of Romae jewelry is inspired by an ancient example, and is carefully designed and lovingly crafted in Rome by archaeologist and museum specialist Cris and artist Elena. Our pieces are made to order, and each is individually cast, hand finished and personalized, which allows for freedom of stone choice and special tailoring such as inscriptions and engravings. When shipped, each piece of Romae jewelry arrives with a product card that provides information about the culture, date, and find spot of the original piece of jewelry that inspired our design. Lead time 4 - 5 weeks.
