Art Deco Sapphire Diamond Gold Mesh Purse
About the Item
Art Deco Diamond, Sapphire and 14k Gold Mesh Deco Flapper Purse from the 1920's.
The 14k gold chain mail mesh is finely woven and set onto a frame set with bars of calibre cut sapphires and punctuated with bezel set diamonds. The thumb piece is a cabochon bullet sapphire.
The wrist strap has an engraved faux slide motif (fixed), also set with diamonds and a square cut sapphire. The tassel cap is similarly engraved and set with diamonds as well with tiny natural pearls ending each chain of the tassel drop. All the stones are set in platinum topped gold.
Wonderful quality from a fine period jewelry manufacturer, Carter and Gough, likely destined for a equally fine period retailer such as Tiffany and Co.
Excellent condition. 1920's USA.
14" length by 3" across. The wrist strap comprises 7" of that total measure.
