About the Item
For most of their history the Crown Jewels of Iran have been virtually unknown outside of the court circles of Tehran. While world-famous collections, such as the British or the Russian Crown Jewels, have been studied and described in some detail by gemmologists and art historians, the richer Iranian treasures have lain locked away in vaults, to be worn on state occasions and seen only by highly favoured visitors. In the Literature of gemmology there were only occasional short references to them, and then only to gemstones "believed to be still in the Persian Treasure." Hardcover, 159 pages beautifully illustrated in black & white and colour. no dustcover.
