This is a gorgeous Tortoise Shell Carved Cameo Mourning Locket. This Piece was purchased from a local estate here in Birmingham, Alabama and dates back to the Mid 1800's. The family has said the the hair in the locket actually belongs to Abraham Lincoln, but we do not have any proof of this. The Locket measures 2 inches by 1.5 inches (including the bale).
