About the Item

This is The 1957 Trilogy Set from Omega, reference number 234.10.39.20.01.002, presented within the “Specialities” collection. The set includes three watches and it is introduced in an edition limited to only 557 units, as a 60th anniversary tribute to the three professional timepieces that were released in 1957 – the Speedmaster, the Railmaster, and the Seamaster 300. The first watch, a Speedmaster, is based on the original “Broad Arrow” model, which was the first Speedmaster timepiece and the first chronograph wristwatch in the world with the tachymeter scale on the bezel. This limited edition piece is presented with a stainless steel case that is mounted onto a matching stainless steel bracelet. The case is water-resistant to 60 meters. The watch is equipped with the Omega 1861 hand-wound movement that builds up power reserve of 48 hours. The black dial features the following functions: hours, minutes, small seconds, and chronograph. The second watch in the set, a Railmaster, is based on the 1957 Railmaster that was designed for those working close to electrical fields. This model is presented with a 38 mm stainless steel case that is also mounted onto a matching stainless steel bracelet. The case is water-resistant to 60 meters. The watch is equipped with the Omega 8806 self-winding movement that builds up power reserve of 55 hours. The movement is approved by the Swiss Federal Institute of Metrology (METAS) and resistant to magnetic fields reaching 15,000 gauss. The black dial features central hours, minutes and seconds. The third watch in the set, a Seamaster 300, is based on the Seamaster 300 CK2913. The modern model is presented with a 39 mm stainless steel case that is mounted onto a stainless steel bracelet. The case is water-resistant to 300 meters and, as an homage to the CK2913, retains the Naïad sign on the crown, which back in 1957 was a mark of exceptional water resistance. Like the Railmaster, the Seamaster 300 is equipped with the Omega 8806 self-winding movement that is resistant to magnetic fields reaching 15,000 gauss. The black dial features central hours, minutes and seconds. The watches are delivered with a leather watch roll that includes six spare straps (three leather and three NATO) as well as a wooden spring bar changing tool. The set is offered in a pre-owned condition and includes the manufacturer’s box and papers, together with a specially-engraved Swiss oak box.

It’s a celebrated part of Omega lore that the brand’s Speedmaster Professional Chronograph was the first watch to make a lunar landing. But the universal love for vintage Omega watches isn't confined to astronomers, and there’s more to the company’s heritage than the story of the Moonwatch.

The house’s origins date to 1848, when Swiss watchmaker Louis Brandt first set up shop. His sons Louis-Paul and César took over after his death, and in 1894, the pair developed an intriguing new movement.

Not only was it highly accurate, but every part was replaceable, making it easy for any professional to service. The Brandts called their movement the Omega, and as its popularity spread, they changed their company’s name to that of its flagship product.

In 1917, the British Royal Flying Corps designated Omega as an official supplier, and during World War II it became the principal watch supplier for the British forces and their allies. These commissions further strengthened Omega’s commitment to ensuring its products’ reliability under extreme conditions. In 1948, it launched the versatile Seamaster. Developed as a dive watch, the Seamaster proved its durability at high altitudes and freezing temperatures, as well.

Thanks in part to its rugged reputation and Omega’s links to the British military, it became James Bond’s watch of choice in 1995, appearing in GoldenEye and every succeeding Bond movie; it is set to return in 2021’s No Time to Die. Nevertheless, the most famous Omega by far is the Speedmaster, introduced in 1957. The first chronograph to display its tachymeter scale on the bezel instead of the dial for easier readability, it was quickly adopted by engineers and scientists.

Worn by Buzz Aldrin during the 1969 Apollo 11 lunar mission, it’s the only watch certified by NASA for extravehicular activity (space walks) — and, as far as we know, the only one approved by the Russian space agency, too.
