About the Item
Egyptian Revival amethyst bead necklace with 14K gold bamboo motif clasp.
The design of this necklace is based on Egyptian New Kingdom necklaces called Poppy Bead Necklaces, for their resemblance to the bud of the Poppy flower. Poppies were popular staples in Egyptian gardens for their bright, attractive blooms and their medicinal use. Bamboo is thought to have been used as a stone-raising tool used to build Pyramids, the long flexible poles used in concert to share the load and lift the heavy stones.
