Jade Necklace Hand Carved Exotic Blue Olmec Jadeite Certified Untreated
Archeologists and geologists had long known that South America harbored at least one reserve of the gemstone known as jadeite, among the most valuable gems on earth and found almost exclusively in Burma (Myanmar). But only in the mid-1950s following the discovery of blue jadeite boulders that the jungles had consumed but rainstorms freed. This is a contemporary necklace is composed of 16 hand-carved and hand-polished certified natural and untreated blue omphacite/jadeite jade off-round beads measuring from 10 mm to 14mm, 6 black jadeite tube beads that measure approximately10mm to 25m, and 16 approximately 8mm rondel beads. A 53mm x 22mm bevel-edged trapezoidal carving with a bold lightning-bolt streak of brightness and texture serves as a free-form focal point bead. Each of this seldom-seen and profoundly beautiful beads is strung on a thick (4mm) and sturdy man-made cord that would probably support the weight of two grown men dangling over the edge of a cliff and which is adjustable by dragging on two knots. At its longest, the necklace measures approximately 30" not including the central carved pendant; the knots allow you to shorten the length by approximately 6 inches. This unisex necklace can be worn in so many ways. It's so visually arresting, you could wear it to a formal event just as easily as you could wear it to the grocery store or surfing. Blue Olmec jade is extremely uncommon. These blue jade beads are splashed with rust-colored patches creating an excruciatingly exotic, tropical palate. The beads are dense and opaque yet still translucent in the way only jadeite can be. They look bright and ultra-saturated in sunlight; they whisper their color into the darkness of the morning or early evening. This is definitely not your mother's jade necklace. Ships with a certificate from Stone Group Labs stating that the jade is natural and untreated omphacite / jadeite jade.
