About the Item
A spectacular Russian 14k yellow gold long chain from the Romanov era, period of Tsar Nicholas II, of classic inspiration designed as a series of interconnected round links, each comprising six conjoined round loops.
Moscow, 1908-17.
54 in. (137.2 cm.) long including swivel clasp.
The French call this type of link "le mille anneaux" (a thousand links) but typically each link only consists of up to five conjoined loops rather than six as we see here. This is very unusual. As the links are set at slight angles to each other the design produces a rich three-dimensional effect.
