Circa 1960 Nordic Scandinavian Modernist Yellow Gold Collar Necklace
About the Item
A rare, hand-made modernist Nordic 18-karat gold highly articulated collar with flexibility and movement, that sits beautifully on the neck, by Finnish goldsmith Leo Torikainen for Pirkan Kulta Oy, 1963. With a subtle, textured gold finish and impeccable workmanship. The necklace comes in its original box. Stamped with makers mark & Finnish assay mark.
Leo Torikainen was most active c. 1940s - 1960s. In the 1940s, he founded the jewelry workshop Pirkan Kulta Oy with Arvi Halinen, and employed a number of goldsmiths, all working within the modernist aesthetic.
This is a timeless, collectible, investment neckpiece that draws instant attention and is very comfortable to wear.
