A stunning vintage Belgian 1950s 0.54 carat diamond and 18 karat yellow gold necklace; part of our diverse vintage jewelry and estate jewelry collections.
This stunning, fine and impressive vintage diamond necklace has been crafted in 18k yellow gold with 18k white gold settings.
The articulated setting is composed of curvilinear feather shaped links, graduated in size.
The centre of the shaped setting is ornamented with a multi-stranded drop setting, embellished with twelve individually 18k white gold four claw set transitional modern brilliant round cut diamonds.
The feature setting suspends from a spiga style chain, securing with a cylindrical push fit clasp to the reverse.
The push fit clasp is fitted with an additional safety chain and spring loaded bolt ring fastening.
The necklace is hallmarked to the reverse with the Belgian 18k gold fineness mark -0750- and maker's mark.
The safety chain clasp is also hallmarked with the 18k gold fineness mark -750.
This Belgian diamond necklace is supplied with an independent diamond grading report card.

This stunning Christian Dior choker necklace was created and manufactured by Grosse in 1958. This piece was crafted by Henkel & Grosse for Christian Dior for their 1958 collections when Marc Bohan was Head Designer of the House. The choker boasts a gilded metal multi-chain pattern embellished with an intricate braided lace design and a central dangling pendant. The locking mechanism of the box is delicate and precious, having a clasp that slides to open and close it. The necklace is marked on the underside with two tiny gilded tags that read Grosse © - 1958 and the CD logo.
The necklace is in good condition for its age, with a minor discoloration on the metal.
Measurements: 15.38 in total length (39 cm) - width is 0.63 in wide (1.5 cm) - the central pendant is 2.63 in long (6.7 cm).

This Art Deco 18K white gold and diamond tiara is an exceptionally rare and gorgeous jewel.
Created entirely by hand in the 1930s, this semi-flexible 15" tiara is composed of thirty 9mm long by 3.15 rectangular segments of 18k white gold, each of which is channel-set with four tiny brilliant round diamonds. Each rectangular segment is joined to the other by a bezel-set round brilliant. Beginning three-quarters of the way forward on the tiara are nine upside-down "U" shaped mountings, each of which is set with two round brilliant diamonds on the interior and then three additional diamonds atop the rounded portion of the "U." The diamonds are close-backed, so a perfectly accurate weight cannot be obtained, but using a geological mathematical formula, I estimate the total diamond weight on the frame of the tiara to be approximately 3.8 carats.
Not counting the freely-dangling diamond briolettes. There are nine, and they are magnificent, fire-filled, and faceted tears of joy. Each measures approximately 5.45mm x 3.44mm x 2.89mm which, again, by formula, suggests a diamond weight of between .51 -.57 carats. So we will go with the lower number, as we always do here, and this gives us a diamond weight for the briolettes alone of 4.59 carats.
Altogether, this simultaneously subtle and spectacular tiara has a total -approximate- diamond carat weight of 8.39 carats.
The tiara has a length of approximately 12". This is a tiara that can be worn in several ways. It can "surround" the base of a bun atop the head, or could be similarly positioned lower toward the nape to adorn a chignon, or it could be pinned to the very top of the head where it could secure a wedding veil into position. So this is not a tiara like the Princess of Wales's favorite tiara, The Lover's Knot; but then is a tiara of that scale ever appropriate for one who is not a duchess, a princess of a reigning monarch? Vintage Choker Necklaces
Vintage choker necklaces are elegant, alluring and stylish. Cameos, pearls, diamonds and other stones can decorate these necklaces, which come in single or multiple strands. Whether it is a statement piece or a delicate chain, these short necklaces always stand out and turn heads.
The history of the choker can be traced back thousands of years, with Sumerian examples discovered from 2600–2500 B.C. They endured as a popular form of adornment through the centuries, and during the French Revolution they took on a symbolic significance. Women wore ribbons around their throats to mark the passing of those killed by the guillotine. Soon, the plain ribbons were adorned with small cameos and other ornamentation.
European choker necklaces gained a salacious reputation in the 19th century when prostitutes were associated with black ribbons tied around the neck, such as the model in Édouard Manet’s Olympia (1863). Queen Alexandra, Princess of Wales, reversed the trend in the late 19th century by wearing a large pearl and diamond choker, reputedly to hide a scar.
Fashioned from gold, pearls and other precious stones and metals, chokers continued to be worn into the 20th century, alternately statements of wealth and rebellion. They experienced periods of revival in the 1920s, ’40s, ’70s and ’90s for both men and women.
