Lillian Kalan Sterling and Amber Brutalist Necklace
About the Item
This impressive necklace has a chic, brutalist quality. The large scale combined with the high impact design creates a kind of warrior princess effect.
It was designed and made by studio jeweler Lillian Kalan. Her work was included in the 1964 "Crafts Horizons" magazine's special issue on "The American Craftsman". It highlighted work by the finest artisans of the period, selected by the American Craftsmen's Council. In 1956 the Council had opened the Museum of Contemporary Craft in New York city.
The measurements below are for the pendant section only. The chain (with the short rigid section) measures 15.25" long.
