About the Item
A dreamy necklace made of 255 carats of hand carved natural blue Chalcedony discs. Made as part of Ico & the Bird's 'Ocean Collection,' the necklace is composed of jump rings connecting the discs and completed with a disk set in a wavy bezel with a hook closure.
The necklace takes days to complete.
Measuring 18" long with 24 discs. Each disc measures 18.9mm diameter and 3.76mm thick.
A great simple layering piece or to wear on it's own.
Believed to be one of the very first raw materials used by mankind, chalcedony is considered a powerful talisman. It is believed to increase endurance and to promote emotional balance, kindness, and friendliness. Rings from the gem that were worn by ancient Romans are still found in remarkably good condition today.

Ico & the Bird Fine Jewelry
Ico & the Bird Fine Jewelry was founded by designer Juliana Domenico (’Ico’) Carr and inspired by her world travels, searching for the most beautiful and unique gemstones to incorporate into her designs. Gemstones have always been a passion for the designer. She spent the first five years of her life in Brazil, a country known for some of the worlds’ most striking and rare stones, and her earliest memories were of playing with giant, loose aquamarines in her mother’s jewelry box and arranging them into designs. Working primarily in 22k matte gold and hand-picked gemstones, Juliana works with master craftsmen from around the world employing ancient gold smithing techniques in the creation of singular pieces that will be treasured for generations. Juliana holds an undergraduate degree in Fine Arts from The George Washington University. She also holds a Graduate Gemology (GG) degree from The Gemological Institute of America and Graduate Fine Arts from UCLA.
