About the Item

A stunning, fine and impressive antique 0.45 carat sapphire, 0.92 carat diamond and 0.05 carat ruby, 14 karat yellow gold and silver set pendant / brooch; part of our antique jewelry and estate jewelry collections. This stunning antique Victorian brooch/ pendant has been crafted in 14k yellow gold with silver settings. The setting has been modelled in the form of a dragonfly. The pierced decorated paired wings are embellished with fourteen pavé set Old European cut diamonds, of various sizes. The thorax of the dragonfly is ornamented with an independently yellow gold bezel set 0.45Ct round faceted sapphire, the attached segmented abdomen is silver set with a further four graduated Dutch cut diamonds. The dragonfly's legs and head are crafted in 14k yellow gold, set with two bezel set cabochon cut rubies to represent the eyes. The pendant suspends from a contemporary 18k yellow gold 45.72cm/18" trace chain via the winged-insect's antennae. This stunning antique pendant can also be worn as a brooch via a detachable screw fit, hinged pin and clasp fastening to the reverse of the setting; this removable fitment indicates the high quality of the piece. This stunning 1890s brooch / pendant is supplied with a independent diamond grading report card. This Victorian insect brooch has been independently tested using state of the art technology (Niton XL2 Analyzer) and verified as 14k gold. Images do not always reflect the true color and brilliance of gemstones and diamonds. The video however provides a truer representation of the actual color and showcases each stone. Condition This impressive Victorian insect brooch is exceptional quality, set with high color graded diamonds displaying a fine color and brilliance; although the diamond clarity is graded at P1, they shows no unsightly black inclusions. The rubies and sapphire display fine color, brilliance and presence. The brooch is an exceptional gauge of gold and in excellent condition. Reflections in photographs may detract from the true representation of this impressive antique dragonfly brooch.
