About the Item

A stunning, fine and impressive antique Russian 5.89 carat diamond and 3.53 carat Colombian emerald, 14 karat yellow gold with silver settings pendant/brooch; part of our diverse antique jewelry collection This stunning, fine and impressive antique cabochon cut emerald pendant / brooch has been crafted in 14k yellow gold with silver settings. The pierced decorated frame displays a feature cabochon cut emerald bezel set to the center of the arrangement. This stunning emerald is encircled with fourteen Old European round cut diamonds, in a scalloped, cluster style setting. The pendant / brooch is further ornamented with scrolling stylised leaf designs accented with further forty-eight pavé set Dutch cut diamonds, in addition to four subtly larger Old European cut diamonds to the cardinal points. The lower portion of the design terminates with a suspended scalloped cluster design embellished with a yellow gold bezel set, cushion cut emerald encompassed with twelve Old European cut diamonds. The pendant is suspended from a contemporary 18 k yellow gold 45.72cm/18" trace chain via a detachable diamond set bale attachment to the upper portion of the frame. This versatile pendant is fitted with an integrated hinged pin and security clasp to the reverse to allow it to be worn as a brooch if so desired. This original antique diamond and emerald brooch / necklace is supplied with an independent diamond grading report card. The upper portion of the frame is hallmarked with the Russian mark for 14 k gold (56 zolotniks, in addition to a Kokoshnik mark; this variation of the Kokoshnik mark was used for Russian items between 1898-1908, determining the date of this piece as circa 1900. This 1900s emerald pendant necklace has been independently tested using state of the art technology (Niton XL2 Analyzer) and verified as 14 k yellow gold and silver. "Rather than regarding inclusions in colored stones as harmful, in small sizes and numbers that do not in any way detract from their beauty, they should be regarded as adding to desirability, for they provide identifying characteristics." NOTE: * The Gemmological Certification Services (GCS) lab has verbally accredited the emerald originating in Colombian and verifies that the gemstone shows indications of moderate clarity enhancement. Condition This stunning antique brooch / necklace is excellent quality, set with impressive very high color graded Old European and Dutch cut diamonds, displaying a fine white color and brilliance. The pendant/brooch is set with two impressive emeralds, displaying fine color, brilliance and presence; the cabochon stone has some surface wear in keeping with age. The necklace is an excellent gauge of gold and is in exceptional condition with very clear Russian hallmarks to the upper rim of the setting.
