Antique Georgian 15 Kt Gold Amethyst Star or Snowflake Pendant
About the Item
The color is royal in this genuine Georgian Amethyst Star or Snowflake pendant c. 1820. The small orbs around the gems are called granulation. They are little beads of gold that jewelers adhered to the gold settings without glue or solder. The method is unknown. Without the granulation the pendant would be beautiful but the granulation makes it regal, gorgeous and proclaims the era. The amethysts are oval and round, faceted on the sides only, set in 15 kt gold. The stones have large flat tables that allow available daylight or candlelight to flood through causing the purple to be brilliant and to show its richness. Speaking of richness, the people who wore this pendant had to be royalty, part of the royal court or the wealthiest landowners. A magnificent gem that will become an heirloom to cherish. Perfect condition.
