Antique Pearl and Diamond Shamrock pendant necklace, Brooch
About the Item
This is simply an impeccable antique piece, a real heirloom piece stacked with beauty and symbolism.
The shamrock can be removed and worn as a brooch and has a removable brooch fitting.
The shamrock is made up from three lustrous natural saltwater pearls, the pearls had a verbal from the Gemmological society stating of natural saltwater origin.
The pearls are surrounded by rows of twinkling old and rose cut diamonds with a lovely sparkle in low light.
It is suspended from a short chain length and there is a Beautiful floral cluster of old cut diamonds providing further sparkle and shine.
It has a fine link chain necklace with a barrel clasp in 9ct Rose gold.
The brooch / pendant is stamped 18ct and is mounted in yellow gold and silver.
It comes in the original fitted case.
The Shamrock or clover has connections to good luck but this is usually the four leaved version, the three leaf clover is associated with Christianity and the Holy trinity.
Marks and era:
Marked 18ct on the brooch, and the chain tests as 9ct gold, 19th century, Victorian era, chain Edwardian.
Condition:
Good used condition overall, chain is a later replacement.

This is a spectacular antique Victorian - Belle Epoque Butterfly Pendant or Brooch set throughout with Rose Cut Diamonds, Pearls and Rubies in a gorgeous open work design in Silver atop 14 Karat Yellow Gold. This is one of the most beautiful Butterfly Insect jewels we have seen. The Butterfly has a detachable brooch pin on the reverse which can be easily unscrewed to convert the jewel to a pendant necklace. The Butterfly is set throughout its wings with Rose Cut Diamonds. Each diamond is set within its own open work section. The sections are then combined into a fully three dimensional butterfly with exquisite craftsmanship and artistry. In the center of the body are four stunning silvery white pearls which may be natural. The eyes of the insect are two round Ruby cabochons. The diamonds and pearls are set in silver as was the custom of the period in order to show off the diamonds to greater brilliance. The butterfly wings are masterworks of jewelry making and diamond setting. This fine and impressive natural pearl and diamond pendant has been crafted in 18k yellow gold with a platinum setting.
The pierced decorated, abstract and sinuous design is ornamented with two 4.5mm (approx.) natural pearls, displayed to the center of the design.
A third drop shaped natural pearl suspends from the lower border of the design via an articulated linear drop, accented with a single Old European round cut diamond.
The flowing platinum setting is embellished with a further sixteen Old European round cut diamonds, in a combination of pavé and bezel settings.
The pendant suspends from a contemporary 18k yellow gold 16" fine curb chain via a tapering ring loop to the upper border, accented with a further two pavé set Old European round cut diamonds.
The chain may be removed and the pendant may we born as a brooch, via a hinged pin and clasp to the reverse of the setting.
This versatile pendant/brooch is struck to the reverse with the maker's mark 'GAD' and the 18k gold mark (18k), the setting has been independently tested using state of the art technology (Niton XL2 Analyzer) and verified as platinum.
