French Art Nouveau Sterling Silver and Paste Pendant

Graceful and unusual, with a bow as a reminder of affection, this silver and paste pendant was made in France in the Art Nouveau period when curves and swirls and garlands dressed architecture and ladies. The paste stones are a variety of sizes, a sign of fine design. The stone settings are closed holding foil that was inserted between the stone and the back to add more sparkle. Particularly stunning worn on a velvet ribbon or on a fine silver and crystal chain. The French jewelers were known for fine paste jewelry which was an art form in itself, not simply a copy of jewelry with precious gems. You see the quality on the back of the pendant which is silky and smooth to the touch. The pendant is in excellent condition. L. 3 inches, W. 1 1/2 inches. Fine condition
