This Locket Pendant is a magnificent piece of Austro-Hungarian Garnet, Turquoise and Amethyst jewelry. It is in the Renaissance Revival style and dates to circa 1870. The gems are all set in silver gilt as was the custom of the Austro-Hungarian jewels. In the center is a gorgeous Bohemian Garnet cabochon. The garnet is 9mm by 7mm. Surrounding the garnet are Amethyst, Turquoise and Pearls all set in raised cut down collets. The gems continue onto the bale with a Pearl, Turquoise and Amethyst. The locket opens to reveal places for two photos if desired. I love the way the gems are set in the raised settings on the locket creating a visually stunning and dramatic piece. This antique Victorian mourning locket pendant was once worn close to someones heart. The locket pendant dates back to the 19th century and is created in 14 karat gold. The front and back of this oval-shaped pendant is beautifully engraved with ornaments while the side is embellished with scrolling foliage. This exceptional, fine and impressive antique locket has been crafted in 14k yellow gold. The exceptional yellow gold locket has an oval form, embellished with impressive embossed and chased Burmese style decoration to the domed anterior and posterior covers. The ornamentation to the anterior surface depicts the figure of Krishna* playing the flute, positioned next to a calf, and surrounded by intricate floral motifs. The posterior face of the locket bears the figure of Saraswati** playing a Saraswati veena, with a swan in the foreground of the image and floral motifs encircling the figure. The yellow gold border of the locket is plain and unembellished. This hinged locket opens to reveal two windows, allowing for a personal memento to be stored within. The pendant suspends from a 1920s 17k yellow gold 26" belcher chain via a ring loop to the upper border of the frame. The chain secures with a conventional spring-loaded bolt ring fastening. The exceptional antique locket is hallmarked to the lower border of each cover with the 14k gold fineness mark 585, the importer's mark (RES) and the London import mark date letter for 1979 (E).
