Rare Cartier Mid-20th Century 14K Yellow Gold Locket Book Key Pendant

About the Item

Cartier - rare mid-20th century 14K yellow gold book form locket key pendant 1940's The rectangular shaped 14K gold locket opens to reveal a pair of gold pages with early etched photographs directly on the gold and a second set of pages, one blank, the other with a personal inscription and date, 1949, enclosing a metal key. Most traditional lockets have compartments for the placement of photographs, but here, Cartier offered a novel and unique way to commemorate a special occaision by utilizing the direct egraved photo method. The photographs can be easily removed if desired, leaving the pages plank. However, if someone recognizes this attractive young couple as their grandparents or great grandparents, please drop us a line!
