Victorian 9ct Gold Miniature Amethyst Fob Seal with Carved Fly, circa 1880

About the Item

A fabulously dainty and rare Victorian 9ct gold fob seal that has a masterfully carved fly insect engraved into a hexagonal amethyst base. The body of the fob has delicately chased panels with a stepped central element and a small loop to its peak ideal for suspending from fine chains or clasps. We have two further similar fobs that have different carvings that make an ideal accompaniment, contact us for more details. MEASUREMENT – 19mm L x 10mm W WEIGHT – 1.3g MATERIALS – 9ct gold/ amethyst HALLMARK – Unmarked, tested throughout as 9ct gold using touchstone. CONDITION – In very good condition commensurate with age and use. The amethyst is unshipped and the carved fly/insect remains in excellent condition with a lld detail present. The gold work, slightly rub and worn, remains solid.
