French lacquered case with the crest of the Zorrilla Family. Magnificent cigarette case holder, created in Paris France, back in the 1929. Crafted at the atelier of the goldsmith Paul Delahais in solid .950/.999 sterling silver with gilded interiors and polished finish. It is embellished with applications of black lacquer and decorated with the crest of the Zorrillas family, made up in solid yellow gold of 18 karats. This piece probably associated to the Uruguayan poet Juan Zorrilla De San Martin (1855-1931) or his entourage. This piece show no trace of use or wear. Enamel case designed by Strauss-Allard & Meyer for George Stockwell Exceptional art deco rectangular case, created in Paris France at the jewelry workshop atelier of Strauss Allard et Meyer, back in the 1925-1926. This piece has been carefully crafted in solid .925/.999 sterling silver with gilt interiors. It is decorated with geometric chinoiserie motifs typical from the period and embellished with applications on both sides of vivid red-orange lacquer. This beautiful box was made with chamfered edges and is fitted with an eight barrel hinge, a push lock and a hinged barrier with a spring. It is in mint condition with no trace of use or wear and can be easily used as a luxury presentation cards-box or as a very high end cigarette-case. Weight: 111.95 Grams, (71.76 Dwt). Measurements: 87.63 mm by 63.5 mm by 19 mm (3.45 x 2.5 by 0.75 Inches). Hallmarks: All parts are stamped with French and British marks; the Parisian maker's mark SAM associated to Strauss Allard & Meyer and the French national mark for the assay of the silver and signed. In addition, three times with the British import mark for London, the importer sponsor mark GS associated to George Stockwell, the letter L for the importation and assay date of 1926, two times with the mark .925 for the assay of the silver and two times with the serial numbers 4650. Strauss Allard Meyer Maker’s Mark Strauss-Allard et Meyer Strauss, Allard et Meyer, in Place des Vosges, were one of the most successful of the Parisian Art Deco workshops, specializing in luxury vanity cases and boxes, many of which were in the 'chinoiserie style', The offices were located at 25 of the rue Taitbout. This stunning and rare box has been crafted for the Canadian jewelry house of Maison Birks, in a rectangular shape with geometric art deco patterns in solid .925/.999 sterling silver. Completely decorated with engine turning guilloche design and embellished with geometric elements decorated with black and red enamel. This is an especially very fine example for the collector, or a wonderful gift for someone special. Weight: 75.70 Grams, (48.53 Dwt). Measurements: 82.5 mm by 58 mm by 10 mm (3.25 x 2.28 x 0.39 Inches). Hallmarks: Stamped with the retailer mark, the mark for the assay of the .925 silver and signed, "STERLING BIRKS". Maison Birks The Maison Birks, was a jewelry company founded in Canada as a Henry Birks & Sons in 1879. They still remains as one of the most popular jewelry companies in Canada for their remarkable and recognizable designs. Their most iconic 1960's designer was Walter Schluep and Antonio Cavelti. Birks Group traces its origins to the opening by Henry Birks of a small jewelery shop in Montreal in 1879. With an investment of CAD$3,000, Henry Birks opened in 1879 a small jewelery shop on Saint James Street in the heart of Montreal's financial and commercial district. In 1893, Birks entered into a partnership with his three sons (William, John and Gerald), and the name of the firm became Henry Birks and Sons. As the focus of Montreal's commercial Centre moved northward towards Saint Catherine Street, the Birks store moved to new premises on Phillips Square in 1894, where the company still maintains a store and corporate offices. Starting in 1901, Birks oversaw the expansion of the company across Canada, with stores opening in the country's largest cities. A pair of cased Italian Silver Lipstick (or possibly rouge and lipstick) holders from the early 20th Century. An excellent example of an antique vanity item. Both lipstick holders are marked 800 the silver stamp for continental silver. Each lipstick holder cabochon stone pushes to reveal a flip up mirror section which adds an extra interest to this wonderful item. Imported from Italy for the London/British market this pair of Italian Silver Lipstick holders retailed in a premier London Jewellers.
