A French Art Deco crystal, diamond and onyx brooch by Chaumet, consisting of an octagonal-shaped frosted rock crystal frame, mounted between two finials of palmette design, with diamond-set scroll Mughal style decorations, accented by a line of cabochon-cut onyx, mounted in platinum and gold, bearing French assay marks and partial maker’s mark of Chaumet, circa 1925, measuring approximately 7.1 x 2.5cm, gross weight 19.3 grams. This brooch is in excellent condition. Unmarked, tested as platinum and 18ct gold. A wonderful Art Deco brooch made Chaumet. The jewellery house of Chaumet dates back to the eighteenth century and is known for making jewellery for the French royal court and for Josephine Bonaparte.
