Antique British Victorian 1848 Black Enamel Gold Memorial Ring

About

This antique memorial ring is a rare and unusual find, never before have I seen one with this kind of wavy, undulating edge filled with lovely details. It was made in 18 karat gold in London and is decorated with black enamel, the absence of which spells out ‘In Memory Of’. This ring is fully hallmarked with the letter year code, ‘N’, denoting that 1848 was the year it was handcrafted. The number, ‘18’ and the crown mark indicate it was made in England of 18 karat gold. The maker’s mark reads, ‘T.E’. The lion’s head indicates it was assayed in London. The cursive inscription inside the ring reads, “Eduard Solly, Oct,,22nd,,1848 Aged 44 Yrs”. This ring is a size 10.5 and cannot be re-sized.
