Magnificent Art Deco Tutti Frutti Diamond, Platinum, Carved Ruby wide band ring 20th century This spectacular Art Deco ring features round cut, baguette and trilliant cut diamonds, approximately 3.60 TCW and carved rubies set in a fine millegrain platinum setting. Millegraining is a very fine tiny beaded detail finish to the edge of a piece of jewelry, usually platinum. This technique allows the diamonds and gemstones to sparkle without competing with reflected light from a flat polished platinum edge. It is a labor intensive technique, but one which produces a stunning effect. Diamonds: F-G-H-I, round, baguette and trilliant cut, VS-SI, approximately 3.60 TCW Rubies: Leaf carved. rich raspberry red, slightly included, 8mm by 4.2mm by 2.5mm each Size: approximately 5.5 US- previously sized by an exceptionally talented jeweler who kept the complex design intact, bumpers on the interior. Fits 5.5 US size. Bumpers may be removed to accomodate a slightly larger finger size. Tested for Platinum Condition: Very Good The iconic Tutti Frutti design is most closely associated with Cartier. In 1901, Queen Alexandra comissioned Cartier to design eastern inspired jewels to complement traditional Indian-style gowns gifted to her by Mary Curzon, wife of the Viceroy of India. This commission proved to be fateful as it introduced Jacques Cartier to the who’s who of Indian Maharajahs, a number of whom soon became clients of Cartier. The joyful, vibrant Tutti Frutti jewels continue to fascinate today and have become a timeless classic.
