Antique 14K Yellow Gold Cannetille Band Ring
About the Item
A 19th Century band ring designed with diamond-shaped figures and a religious cross. The 14 karat gold ring dates from around 1900. The ring, with religious symbol, was used exclusively in the four Roman Catholic villages in South Beveland, Zeeland. In general a decorative ring, which was worn in large parts of Zeeland, in the southern part of The Netherlands. This type of rings already existed in the 18th century and the design became wider and wider. The ring has engraved initials and a date on the inside, P.R.M. and 1912.
These kinds of jewels represent a varied and rich historical Dutch cultural heritage, worn by men in some parts of the Netherlands. It was part of the regional costume. The ring is in very good condition and of high quality. Marked and tested as 14 karat gold.
Due to the design of the ring it is not resizable other than the current size.
