Viking raven heads ring in gold. A large gold ring cinched to the centre with an inwardly scalloped edge to top and bottom, featured centrally with two raised raven head motifs facing beak to beak with stamped circular eyes and subtle ribbed outlines, decorated throughout with golden granules and raised borders, the integrated trumpeting shoulders include a raised linear centre which continues to a solid shank. Tested yellow gold, approximately 14g in weight, circa 8th-10th century AD, accompanied by an Oxford Labs X-ray fluorescence report stating the composition of the metal.

Ravens have a long and treasured history associated with Norse mythology. Vikings who were Norse seafarers believed that the revered god Odin had two ravens named Huginn and Muninn (translated from old Norse as thought and memory) who were used by Odin as messengers and gatherers of information.
