Express Shipping still available during Lockdown
Rare 18K gold Brooch called Alphée by Georges Braque (1882-1963), inventor of cubism.
It is Signed 'Bijoux de Braque' and numbered 2/75, from the first edition created by Heger de Loewenfeld. Most pieces of this edition were not completed and only a few numbered were manufactured by Loewenfeld.
This particular piece comes from the personal collection of Heger de Loewenfeld.
The Fish theme is a classical Braque theme and the gouache where figures 'Alphee' is reproduced on photo 5.
"Bijoux de Braque" is a project of the famous french painter Braque, who designed jewelry in the last three years of his life, from 1960 to 1963.
All items of this collection are made after Braque major career works he has chosen to be transposed in jewels and precious sculptures with the help of a Stonecutter, Heger de Loewenfeld. The project ended up as an exhibition at the "palais du Louvre" in Paris from march to may 1963 (Photo 6)
There are approximatively 100 gouaches, listed in the book "Les Metamorphoses de Braque" by Heger de Loewenfeld and Raphael de Cuttoli.
All subjects are renamed after Greek Mythology characters.
