About the Item

Ruby and diamond ring. The unheated Burmese ruby at the centre of this ring is of exceptional quality, weighing just over one carat, with a richly saturated, deep red tone, excellent clarity and a well-proportioned cut. Surrounding this rare stone is a double border of millegrain-set single-cut diamonds, subtly pierced between the borders, ensuring that maximum prominence is given to the stones, with minimal metal visible. The lightness of the workmanship in this ring was made possible by the use of platinum, which had only been recently discovered, and revolutionised jewellery design in the opening years of the 20th century. The combination of high-quality stones and a classic design makes this ring a perfect statement piece, stylish but comfortable and durable enough for everyday wear, lying low against the hand and protecting the stones set within it. STONE Ruby: approximately 1.1 carats, accompanied by GCS report no. 80246-07, stating that the ruby measuring 6.4 x 5.4 x 3.5mm and weighing 1.1 carats is of Burmese origin, with no indications of heat treatment.
