Victorian Demantoid Garnet and Diamond Double Heart Ring

About the Item

A Victorian demantoid garnet and diamond double heart ring, each heart set with a demantoid garnet to the centre of an old brilliant-cut diamond surround, with diamond-set ribbon bow surmount, the demantoid garnets estimated a total of 3.3 carats, the diamonds estimated a total of 1.1 carats, all set in silver to a yellow gold mount ring, circa 1880, the head measuring approximately 2.3 x 2.1cm, finger size M, gross weight 4.15 grams. This ring is in very good condition. Unmarked, tested as 18ct gold and silver. This enchanting Victorian double heart ring comes from the collection of Bentley & Skinner, the London jewellers by appointment to both Her Majesty the Queen and His Royal Highness the Prince of Wales. Double heart rings such as this were popular symbol of romantic love in the late Victorian era. This wonderful example features two brilliant green demantoid garnets set in lively diamond frames that form the twin hearts. Demantoid garnets first discovered in the Ural mountains in the 1860s and quickly became a favourite novelty stone. Tying the hearts together is an elegant openwork bow, set throughout with further sparkling diamonds. This bright and dazzling piece would make a colourful and unique engagement ring or a perfect accessory to a smart floral dress. The finger size of most of our rings can be adjusted and our workshop will be happy to do this free of charge. If you do not know your finger size please request us to post you a finger measure. Should you choose to make this purchase we would be delighted to send it to you in a Bentley & Skinner handmade leather case packed in a gift-wrapped Bentley & Skinner black and gold presentation box. Shortly afterwards we will send you on a valuation for insurance purposes for your reference and safekeeping.
