About the Item
A cocktail ring featuring 9ct Russian demantoid garnet solitaire set in a 21k solid gold bezel mounted on an 18k solid gold rounded shank. The bottom of the bezel is set with rose-cut yellow diamonds. This whimsical stackable cocktail ring is hand fabricated and creates a nice visual accent. One-of-a-kind.
This Lotus Leaf design and the pastel color palette are inspired by ancient Classical designs updating them with a bold modern interpretation.
I am ever fascinated with the nature of the stones and ancient manual techniques of jewelry making, such as granulation, metal forming, and bezel setting. These techniques were introduced by pre-Classical Sumerian, Mycenaean and Minoan cultures and built upon during Greek Classical and Hellenistic periods when naturalistic forms were introduced. My designs are influenced by the skill and the laborious attention to detail paid by the artisans throughout thousands of years of jewelry design.

***Of all the garnets the rarest and most valuable are the ones mined from the Russian Ural mountains. These garnets were first found in 1886 and called demantoid for their diamond-like luster. They became very popular with European aristocracy as demantoid garnets were frequently used by Carl Faberge in his designs. After the 1917 revolution, the mining for these stones stopped and only a small production resumed within the last 20 years. These stones are sought after by serious gem collectors.

Contemporary, individually conceived, handcrafted fine 22k gold jewelry, with a touch of history and art.
We learn of past civilizations through the jewelry they've left behind. I create jewelry to convey my life experiences, my idea of beauty, and to inspire a confidence in the wearer. Admiring classical shapes and proportions I merge them with a bold simplicity to give my pieces a modern feeling that coordinates well for everyday wear, while maintaining drama for special occasions. Using pre-Classical hand fabrication techniques I am able to introduce unique details to each piece and to keep the production environmentally sensitive. The stylistic naturalism introduced in the Classical and Hellenistic periods motivates me to experiment with the metal surface and the stone settings. I draw further inspiration from natural stones and art objects, such as mosaics, antique coins, and carvings. The stones and objects become the palette with which I paint my picture.
I design by making, not fully knowing what the final piece will be. Allowing nature guide the design process results in a unique piece of modern jewelry. I have been designing and hand fabricating a small line of one-of-a-kind jewelry for about 10 years. The early pieces I mostly made for myself, my daughters and friends. Then expanded, growing my brand on Facebook and Instagram and selling my jewelry through a gallery in California and my NYC studio. Now, I am introducing my collection here, on 1stdibs
