About the Item
Sparkling oval Amethyst, 14.43 carats, medium color with decidly brilliant pink flash set in a Sterling Silver basket style setting with 8 prongs. Sizable 7. This gorgeous gemstone comes from our favorite supplier up in the mountains outside of Rio de Janeiro. Amethyst is the February birthstone and is said to protect from intoxication and evil spells. It will calm your spirit and give you focus. Pure quartz is colorless, but the most prized variety is Amethyst, the purple variety. It's always been considered a 'royal color' and is featured in the British Crown jewels. It was also a favorite of Catherine the Great and Egyptian royalty. For centuries this beautiful gemstone has been considered a symbol of power. No changes by seller.

Kathy lives by the motto, "Go Big or Go Home," and fell in love with jewelry design when she met founder Hans Stern, a pioneer in designing jewelry with Brazil's vibrantly colored gemstones, Mr. Stern invited her to his workroom, shared his expertise - and she was hooked. Martha and Kathy met while living in Rio de Janeiro and they have been design partners and friends ever since.
