Cazzaniga Roma Ankh Cocktail Ring in Solid 18Kt White Gold with VS Diamonds

About the Item

Cocktail ring with Ankh designed by Cazzaniga. Beautiful cocktail ring with Ankh cross motif, created in Roma Italy by the fine jewelry house of Cazzaniga. This intricate piece have been crafted with baroque revival patterns in solid white gold of 18 karats with textured finish. The ankh has a cross shape but with a teardrop-shaped loop in place of a vertical upper bar. The origins of the symbol are not known, although many hypotheses have been proposed. In art the symbol often appeared as a physical object representing either life or substances such as air or water that are related to it. It was especially commonly held in the hands of ancient Egyptian deities, or being given by them to the pharaoh, to represent their power to sustain life and to revive human souls in the afterlife. The ankh was one of the most common decorative motifs in ancient Egypt and was also used decoratively by neighbouring cultures. Coptic Christians adapted it into the crux ansata, a shape with a circular rather than oval loop, and used it as a variant of the Christian cross. The ankh came into widespread use in Western culture in the 1960s, and it is often used as a symbol of African cultural identity, Neopagan belief systems, and the goth subculture. Diamonds: Bezel set with 4 round brilliant cut diamonds, 0.24 carats, white colorless F color, VS-2 clarity. Size: 7.5 and can be resized. Weight: 10.2 Grams, (6.53 Dwt). Measurements: From the top view 25.4 mm by 22 mm (1.0 x 0.87 Inches). Hallmarks: Stamped with the maker's mark, the Italian gold assay mark and signed in full, "CAZZANIGA ROMA .750 *219ROMA". Cazzaniga was founded in Rome in the 1929 by Angelo Giorgio Cazzaniga (1908-1973) in a place close to the famous Trevi fountain. Today, since the 1973 his son, Paolo Cazzaniga run the business. Still located in Rome but in a new location, 18 Passeggiata di Ripetta. Gazzaniga's salon is now by appointment, continuing to create only, one of a kind pieces for a very select clientele. Collateral: It is accompanied by a presentation jewelry box. Condition: The overall condition of this ring is excellent. Beside the little normal wear, there is no damage to the gold.
