About the Item

This spectacular ring from the 1940s features an exceptionally fine vivid apple-green jadeite jade cabochon certified by the GIA to be natural and untreated jadeite from Burma. Poised on either side of this glorious and rare gem is a pair of small, bright, and natural (earth-mined) pink sapphires that together weigh about .30 carats, but this is not a pink sapphire ring and these sapphires know it: they flatter the jade by providing its color-contrast as well as a bit of luxurious and decidedly glamorous emphasis. They are like two exclamation points on either side of the stone. The sleek and substantial double-cabochon of jade measures 25.60mm by 8.83mm. It has even coloring and excellent translucency. The setting is 14k reddish-gold. It's a very well-made setting and I like how the gold folds over the points of the navette-shaped jade stone while securing it further with four extra prongs in the center. It's a very sturdy as well as an exquisitely beautiful ring that could absolutely become your new daily driver. Perfect on your pointer finger or even as a diamond-alternative engagement ring, this Retro-era treasure commands attention and respect with its exceptionally fine-quality jade. This is an impressive ring in every respect. The only caveat? Are those really pink sapphires or are they rubies? As a gemologist I am compelled by the color standards of my profession to call them pink sapphires though in all fairness, it's a close call and many would argue, go ahead and let them be rubies. I will leave this matter in your capable hands. I probably don't need to tell you that natural and untreated jadeite jade displaying color this fine and even is a rare thing indeed. This is quite the statement ring. Even if the only statement you want to make is to yourself. Currently a size 6, this ring could be resized by your local jeweler. The ring is relatively low-profile, rising approximately 5mm off the surface of your finger. There is a worn purity mark for 14k on the interior of the band but no maker's mark which a prior resizing may have removed.
