Mid Century 2.25ct Blue Sapphire and Diamond Cocktail Ring Birthstone of September. Sapphires deep blue and sparkling hue has long been loved and revered by ancient and modern cultures. It has come to be a loved gemstone that is second in popularity only to diamonds. Cultures all around the world have revered the gorgeous blue sapphire as a sacred stone. Ancient Greeks wore this gemstone at Delphi when meeting with the oracle to seek knowledge about their future. Ancient Indians offered the sapphire to the gods to curry favor and align their astrological fortunes. Circa 1960-1970. From a magnificent Southern estate. This cocktail-style ring has been crafted in solid 14k yellow gold. The stately design is a charming take on a classic “Princess Diana-Style Ring”. Masterfully jeweled, in a diamond halo style setting, is a magnificent deep blue authentic emerald-cut blue sapphire approximating 1.25ct in weight. The diamond halo surrounding the sapphire contains a total of 18 natural round brilliant-cut diamonds approximating 0.36ct in total diamond weight. All of the diamonds have a G/H color and VS clarity. The head of the ring is adorned with a total of 8 flanking baguette-cut deep blue sapphires approximating 0.64ct in total weight. The estimated total carat weight of the ring is 2.25ct. The head of the ring measures 12 x 10 x 7mm in size, the ring weighs 5.2 grams, and has a ring finger size of 8.5.
