A 33.44-carat emerald-cut Madeira citrine with depth, fire, smoldering intensity, and just plain old-school "WOW" factor resides within its boxy, handmade Retro 14K light-rose gold mounting. Instead of sliding around and around your finger like you might imagine, the ginormous gem remains perfectly poised atop your finger because the bottom of the basket mounting has been curved to fit your finger. That kind of attention to detail —prioritizing wearability— says everything about this ring. The lapidary work on the stone is impeccable with three steps leading down from (or up to) the top flat table facet. Smooth, sleek elegance that creates broad flashes of intense color. The stone itself measures approximately 21.18mm x 17.45mm x 13.13mm. The mounting is beautifully constructed. It's simple with the slightest design element on the shoulders, where the shank splits into a "V." I appreciate the way the gold is folded over each corner of the stone, protecting it. I just think this is a spectacularly cool, modern ring. Made in the 1940s or early 1950s, it's so perfect for today.
