About the Item

Rubies from Burma, today Myanmar, are seen as the most precious and desirable of all rubies. One of the most important areas for mining is that around Mogok: until today, rubies of exceptional quality can be found there, gemstones that need neither heat nor any other treatment, but whose superior red hues are entirely natural. Yet they are rare – since it is estimated that 98% of all rubies available on the market might be treated, untreated Burmese ones are sought-after rarities. Such a gemstone, an untreated Burma ruby, is the focal point of attention in this vintage ring dating to the 1970s. With its clean, domed design and luxurious cocktail size, the ring draws all attention to the precious gemstone in its centre. The ruby weighs approx. 1.40 carats and has neither been heated nor treated in any other way. Its quality has been independently certified by the renowned DEGEB institute in Germany's jewellery capital of Idar-Oberstein. The certificate will be delivered with the ring. MATERIALS A natural ruby (no heat, untreated), faceted, approx. 1.40 ct, approx. 8.25 x 6.25 x 2.83 mm / 0.32 x 0.25 x 0.11 inches Gold 585/000 resp. 14k HALLMARKS German standard mark "585" in the shank RING SIZE US approx. 6 1/2 – 6 3/4 UK approx. M 3/4 German 53.5 Due to the space beneath the domed ring face, sizing may vary depending on the shape of your fingers. We suggest sizing be done in person with a competent goldsmith near you.
